BRIEF SUMMARY: This initiative aims at improving the response to the need for sport activities for youth in the Saharawi refugee camps. It includes the training of local sport program leaders, as well as the building of a multiuse sports facility with seats, changing rooms, latrines and night lights in the camps in El Aaiun. In the camp of Smara the project focuses on the rehabilitation and extension of the current multiuse sports facility. Also, our expatriate staff and our volunteers provide sport and cultural activities to youth. Other activities include the celebration of sports and cinema week, held in December 2008. Sport Network coordinates its activities with the nonprofit organization “Proyecto Sahara,” and supports the forthcoming IX Sahara Marathon, that will be held in February 2009.
