BRIEF SUMMARY: This project targets children (both boys and girls) from Barahona and from the surrounding areas of the Cristo Rey Catholic Parish, where over 2,000 young people receive assistance. The goal of the project is to foster healthy leisure choices, in this case through softball and baseball, the most popular sports in the Dominican Republic. Major League Baseball is co-sponsoring this project by donating valuable material such as baseball gloves, caps, jackets, bats, balls, catcher’s masks, pants, and vests. The project also includes the building of a soccer field and equipment in the Barrio de Savica at the University of Barahona. With the support of the Embassy of Spain in the Dominican Republic we have equipped the office of our Barahona local partner with computers.
