Sport Network has a commitment to communicate the experiences and problems of the people we work with in developing countries. We publish periodic press releases and stories that we send to the media as well as post them on our website. We also organize press conferences to present our activities and campaigns.
Our communication´s aim is to present a positive image of the people we work with, as we are convinced that we have much to learn from their cultures, values and experiences. We are also committed to denouncing injustices that cause some of the problems that keep countries impoverished and in conflict.
We strive to present a world of sports that goes beyond stardom and elitism. We focus on the lack of sport that takes place in poor, rural settings and slums where many children and youth are marginalized. We then provide sport experiences that give them a chance to be safe from the stark certainties that surround their daily lives, involve themselves in learning, demonstrate socially appropriate behaviors and attitudes, overcome the adversities that undermine their capacity to nurture themselves, and provide them with a possible future never envisioned before.
The aim is to give them a voice and to replace their current sense of powerlessness, alienation, resignation and despair with prospects of optimism and hope. These unguarded and vulnerable children and youth deserve no less.
